Adding Course Profiles

Contents

Problem

Most course websites will provide students with access to the course profile. One common way to do this is to upload a PDF copy of the course profile into the course website.

This causes problems and is not advised.

Course profiles can, occasionally, change during term due to errata and other factors. There is a formal CQUniversity system for ensuring that students receive the latest and consistent information about the course profile

Solution

It is suggested that you provide a link to the course profile within the course profile system rather than upload a copy of the file.

The link should follow this format

http://courseprofile.cqu.edu.au/CourseProfile/profile.jsp?coursecode=FINC19011&period=t3&year=2008

Where you may have to replace the values FINC19011', t3, and 2008 with values that correspond to the course, period and year appropriate for you.

How to add a link

Chapter 3 of the Staff Blackboard Manual provides some instructions on how to add a link to a Blackboard course website.

Limitations

Due to the absence of a single-sign on system at CQUniversity, students and staff may need to login to the course profile system in order to see the course profile. Even if they have already logged into the course website.
