Blackboard technical fixes - priorities
The aim here is to generate, share and prioritise a list of "technical" fixes for CQU's implementation of Blackboard 6.3.
"Technical" is defined as things we'd need to implement by some form of playing around with the Blackboard "source" files.
Currently in no particular order
- Fix problems with visual editor
- Doesn't work with more recent browsers. Replace it with something that does.
- Branding improvements
- Make the site look more CQU and less Blackboard
- Overall interface improvements
- Make it as smick as we can and potentially be more accessible.
- Increased automation of course creation including
- Minimise manual labour
- Increase what can be done in creating sites
e.g. auto populate a staff section with names, addresses, photos of appropriate teaching staff. - Enable it to respond automatically to changes
e.g. Joe Bloggs has been added as a lecturer
- Integration with Webfuse and other apps including
- Single sign-on
- Create from blackboard
i.e. if someone wants to use the Webfuse discussion forum in Blackboard they can do this themselves using essentially the same process as they would for the Blackboard forum. - Breadcrumb generation
What ever is integrated has to keep the same bread crumb scheme as Blackboard. - Provide a more modern, flexible discussion forum a current need.
- Integrate OASIS
- Range of other integrations which may make sense: blogs, wikis,...???
- Generation of feeds (RSS/Atom...)
Enable students/staff to keep an eye on what goes on in a course via a feed reader.
- Greater levels of context sensitive help
As CDDU add more "help resources" links to those need to be integrated into the Bb interface.
- Better/greater content integration including
- automatically adding study guides into appropriate areas
- better links with the CRO
- simple addition of ISL lectures in flash video
