CDDU Presentations

2008

A 30 minute high level overview of the PLEs@CQUni project at the end of 2008.
Presentation introducing the use of RSS and other feeds as a way to have information come to you, rather than waste your time going out to get it. Included an initial announcement of the availability of RSS feeds from Blackboard discussion forums.
This presentation arises from a long-term sense of disquiet about the foundations of current thinking about leadership in learning and teaching, an on-going attempt to identify the source of this disquiet and find alternate, hopefully better, foundations. The presentation will attempt to illustrate the disquiet and explain how insights from a number of sources (see some references below) might help provide alternate foundations. It will briefly discuss the implications these alternate foundations may have for the practice of L&T at CQUniversity.
Available resources: expanded abstract, presentation slides, and the video of the presentation.
Making good decisions about the implementation of educational technology within organisations is hard. The Ps Framework is intended as an aid to sense-making about these decisions that should (hopefully) improve the quality of those decisions. This presentation introduces the Ps framework and applies it to the considerations that are informing the PLEs@CQUni project.
The video of the presentation is also available from Google Video.
A presentation based on a paper for the 2008 Lifelong Learning conference. This paper seeks to identify some limitations of learning management systems and addresses these limitations by supplementing the LMS with an online learning network.
A presentation based on a paper (PDF) for the PLE Symposium organised by CDDU at the 2008 Lifelong Learning conference. The presentation builds on the paper to try and establish some ideas about how a university might make use of PLEs in terms of modifying and enhancing what it does to support the use of individual PLEs by its students and staff.
An extension and expansion of some of the presentations from 2007 explaining the why, who and what of CDDU. This version was given to a collection of CQU library staff.

2007

A presentation given at CQU in November 2007 explaining the work CDDU is currently doing to help improve learning and teaching at CQU.
An introduction to the purpose and process of the Web3DX project at CQU which is looking at investigating how technologies such as Second Life can be effectively and efficiently used in learning and teaching at CQU.
A short presentation about Web 2.0 for the Glenmore High School staff. Given on the 15th of October.
Slides and video a teaching and learning seminar that talks about some of the potential futures of learning @ CQU during late 2007 and early 2008. Based on projects CDDU have undertaken during the first half of 2007.
Each year CQU holds an induction process for new academic staff. In 2007, CDDU provided two presentations (version 1.0 and version 2.0) that looked at some of the potential futures for learning. Only the slides are available for these presentations.
The first presentation in the 2007 DTLS research seminar series. The presentation suggests that the process used by universities to implement e-learning limits the choice that it can provide to learning and learners. The page provides access to the presentation slides and the video.
