About
The very nature of the work CDDU performs make it essential that we are active participants in a range of different communities. CDDU cannot be effective without close connections with the these different communities both within and outside CQU.
Our perception is that the nature of communities means that these connections will be emergent and ever changing. What follows is a start of a process of thinking about which communities we need to connect with and how we might do that.
Existing "communities"
Communities we're currently working with include
- The first step is a discussion forum (open to all CQU staff who have had teaching responsibilities and have a valid CQU account) to talk about the experience and use of Blackboard by CQU teaching staff.
- On the 25th of October all CQU distance education students for T2, 2007 received an email asking them to contribute to an anonymous discussion forum their opinions about CQU's online and print learning resources. They were asked to respond to three questions: What did you like or find useful? What caused you problems? What would you like to see?. As of Dec 14 there have been almost 753 student contributions.
- An initial summary of the student contributions is now available. CQU staff can see the student comments in this separate discussion forum
Philosophy
Some of the important informing "philosophies" underlying the CDDU approach include the following
Both these ideas contribute to ideas of a group of diverse people working together to merge their different backgrounds, perspectives and capabilities to develop solutions to real problems.
Some potential communities
Some potential communities we may start interacting with
- internal learning practice and technology
- internal management
- external learning practice and technology
