Design-based research
Anchored Learning in Accounting education
This is a cross-institutional collaboration in design based research, which explores the possibility of applying a model of learning in first year accounting subjects that blends traditional modes of instruction with approaches underpinned by situated learning perspective, namely anchored instruction. The aim is to investigate students' responses to that learning experience to identify the affordances and/or limitations of complementary modes of instruction.

An Information Systems Design Theory for e-Learning
David Jones' PhD research is based around the information systems discipline's conceptualisation of design research, which is somewhat different from the education field. This research aims to develop a design theory to guide the effective implementation of e-learning within a university context. It has results in a number of publications including the most recent journal paper which seeks to establish design knowledge as theory.
